Susan Sandberg is a 25-year resident of Bloomington, a graduate of Indiana University, and a Bloomington City Council member At-Large.

Elected by caucus to fill Chris Gaal’s seat in 2007, Susan Sandberg is already working at full speed  on behalf of the City. She serves on

  • the Jack Hopkins Social Services Funding Committee
  • the Community Development Block Grants Committee for physical improvements
  • the Council Sidewalk Committee

Susan Sandberg sees several important issues for the coming year: 

  • downtown parking efficiency problems
  • a sustainable continuum of transportation options for all citizens
  • expansion of City Utilities to meet the water needs of the future
  • nurturing the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District

Also of importance to Susan Sandberg are issues such as

  • working poverty
  • domestic violence
  • protection of the city’s green spaces

Susan Sandberg works as program coordinator for the Arts Administration program in the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs.  She has served on the Bloomington Pops Orchestra board of directors, volunteered for New Leaf/New Life’s theater program in the local jail, and is a 2005 graduate of the city’s Citizen’s Academy.  Susan Sandberg has one daughter, Katy, is Vice Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, and was a Singing Hoosier while an undergraduate at IU.
