In what ways does Susan consider herself fiscally responsible?

When faced with shrinking resources, hard choices must be made.  I will have the courage of my convictions when it comes to prioritization of the City’s budget.  The Council is focused on developing collaborations and partnerships that achieve efficiency and quality service delivery.

I will take a common sense approach to reviewing major projects and infrastructure spending with an eye on the long-term interest of the City.  While it is not responsible to spend more than we make, it is also sometimes necessary to take risks and invest in public projects that ensure the well-being and financial health of Bloomington’s future.

To meet the water needs of the future, the Council will need to consider a major Bloomington Utilities expansion project.

While I tend to be fiscally cautious in general, I view tax revenues as investments in a healthy community.  We should be willing to invest in essential services and projects that ensure our safety, help our neighbors, and improve our quality of life.

When well-researched investment opportunities present themselves, I will give them careful consideration.
