Why is Susan running for City Council? Having won the open at-large seat following Chris Gaal’s election as Prosecutor, I am now the only female incumbent, and I bring a woman’s perspective and sensibilities to the City Council. My candidacy for the District 2 seat in 2003 first demonstrated my interest in the Council, and now that I am a member, I wish to remain on the Council at-large and serve all citizens of Bloomington. My work ethic is apparent at all Council meetings: I come totally prepared and ready to listen, open to the advice and opinions of others, and committed to casting my votes from a grounded set of beliefs. I’m a good communicator who is considerate of others’ contributions. I attend commission meetings and public forums to hear what other active citizens think are important, and appreciate the public comment sections of City Council meetings. Constituents with valuable expertise have a lot to share and teach us, and I will work diligently to respond to their concerns and to protect the long-term best interests of Bloomington.
